WHERE CLINICAL CARE, MOVEMENT AND WELLBEING COME TOGETHER TO MAKE CHANGE THAT LASTS
FROZEN SHOULDER TREATMENT
IN WEST AUCKLAND
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a painful and often frustrating condition that causes progressive stiffness and restriction through the shoulder joint. Simple movements like reaching overhead, putting on a bra, fastening a seatbelt or sleeping comfortably can become difficult. Frozen shoulder commonly affects people between 40–60 years old and may develop gradually without obvious injury, or after trauma, surgery or periods of reduced movement.
At Waitākere Health Hub we take an integrated approach to frozen shoulder treatment, combining hands-on therapy, pain management and rehabilitation to help restore movement and function over time. Depending on your presentation, treatment may include osteopathy, acupuncture, massage therapy, rehabilitation and wellness support. No GP referral is needed, and if your symptoms are injury-related, we can often lodge your ACC claim in clinic.

HOW WE TREAT FROZEN SHOULDER
osteopathy for frozen shoulder
Osteopathy focuses on improving movement through the shoulder, upper back, ribs and neck while helping reduce muscular guarding around the joint. Treatment may include mobilisation, articulation, stretching and gentle hands-on techniques to support mobility and comfort.
acupuncture for frozen shoulder
Acupuncture may help reduce pain, calm inflammation and relax tight muscles surrounding the shoulder joint. Electro-acupuncture is commonly used for frozen shoulder and may help improve comfort while supporting movement rehabilitation.

massage therapy for shoulder tension
Massage therapy can help reduce tension through the shoulder, chest, neck and upper back muscles that often become tight and protective around a painful shoulder. Releasing surrounding muscular tension may help improve movement quality and reduce discomfort.
clinical pilates + rehabilitation
Rehabilitation focuses on gradually restoring shoulder mobility, strength and confidence with movement. Gentle guided exercises are often an important part of recovery and may help improve long-term shoulder function.
infrared sauna + wellness room
Infrared sauna and wellness therapies may help support circulation, relaxation and muscular recovery - particularly for people experiencing persistent pain and stiffness.
cross discipline care
Some people respond best to a single therapy, while others benefit from combining modalities such as osteopathy and massage, or acupuncture alongside rehabilitation. Our practitioners work collaboratively to help find the approach that best supports your body and goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
Your first appointment focuses on understanding your pain, shoulder movement and how symptoms are affecting daily life. We’ll discuss when the problem started, previous injuries, work demands, sleep disturbance and aggravating movements.
Your practitioner will assess shoulder mobility, surrounding muscular tension and how the neck, ribs and upper back may be influencing shoulder function. Treatment often begins during the first session and may include hands-on therapy or acupuncture.
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your condition and a treatment plan tailored to your stage of recovery and goals. Frozen shoulder can take a long time to free.
